Rose Quartz is so named due to its pink color that can range from a deep rosy pink to very pale pink. The variety of colors or tones, are due to tiny impurities of manganese, titanium or iron.

Found in Madagascar, India, Germany, and several localities in the USA. There has been quite a lot of rose quartz extracted from a site near Custer, South Dakota, but now, most of the world's supply of good quality rose quartz comes from Brazil.

Historically, it was first created as jewelry in ancient Rome and Assyria, although rose quartz beads dating all the way back to 7000 BC were found in the Mesopotamian area.

Ancient Egyptians believed that rose quartz has excellent effects on the skin, providing a soft, beautiful complexion. Rose quartz is also believed to help heal the kidneys, adrenals, and lungs by clearing fluids in body cells.
